Air quality survey

In order to determine the suitability of environmental standards for air quality in the general environment and to understand the current situation in environmental impact assessments, we conduct surveys of sulfur dioxide ( SO2 ), nitrogen dioxide ( NO2 ), suspended particulate matter (SPM), carbon monoxide (CO), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and harmful air pollutants, as well as make predictions and evaluations and propose environmental conservation measures.
Air quality surveys involve installing air measurement vehicles such as those shown in the photograph to conduct meteorological observations and measure the concentration of air pollutants.

Air quality survey

We can also provide constant monitoring of various environmental items such as dust, dioxins, wind direction, wind speed, noise, vibration, etc. at site boundaries associated with incinerator demolition work, soil purification work, etc.

Water quality survey

We conduct surveys and analyses on items related to protecting human health and preserving the living environment, measure river flow rates, and measure groundwater levels, with the aim of determining the suitability of environmental standards for rivers, lakes, and oceans, and grasping the current situation for environmental impact assessments, etc. We also predict and evaluate water quality and propose environmental conservation measures.
Furthermore, by installing water quality measuring equipment like the one in the photograph in rivers and other water bodies and building a constant water quality monitoring system (using mobile phone networks), it is possible to grasp the current water quality, such as pH and turbidity, in real time (the acquired data can also be graphed and published on the web).

Noise/Vibration survey/Low frequency survey/Traffic volume survey

We conduct measurements of noise and vibration generated by various equipment in construction sites and factories, and from transportation such as roads, railways, and aircraft, in accordance with the Noise Regulation Act, Vibration Regulation Act, JIS, and various manuals.
To implement measures to reduce noise and vibration, it is important to accurately understand the source of noise, propagation path, and the condition of the object to be protected.
Therefore, in addition to general measurements, we use frequency analysis and sound source detection equipment, as well as constant monitoring systems that use communications, to propose optimal measurement methods according to the purpose and situation. At the same time, we also conduct analysis, simulations, and reduction measures based on measurements.
We also receive commissions from many local governments for "constant automobile noise monitoring" (area evaluation) and traffic volume surveys.

Nature coexistence site/OECM certified support service

We are working to support other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs).
The National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan 2023-2030, approved by the Cabinet in March 2023, stipulates the achievement of the "30 by 30 target: a new global target to conserve more than 30% of land and ocean areas by 2030." Since the participation of not only national and local governments but also private companies and individuals is essential to achieving this target, the plan calls for proactive establishment and management of areas that contribute to biodiversity conservation (OECMs) outside of protected areas such as national parks.

Since fiscal year 2023, the Ministry of the Environment has been certifying forests, satoyama, urban green spaces, coastal areas, and other areas where biodiversity conservation efforts are being made through private sector activities as "nature-symbiotic sites." In April 2025, the Biodiversity Enhancement Activities Promotion Act came into effect, and the application and certification system for nature-symbiotic sites will be carried out under the new legal system.
After the law comes into effect, a new system will be established in which: 1) activities related to the maintenance, restoration, and creation of biodiversity carried out by companies and other organizations will require the preparation of "enhancement activity implementation plans," which will then be approved by the competent minister; and 2) activities carried out in collaboration between municipalities and a variety of other entities will require the preparation of "collaboration promotion activity implementation plans," which will then be approved by the competent minister.
We support these activities.

  • Consulting and preparing documents related to applications for registration of the OCEM (Coexistence with Nature Site) and planning and carrying out necessary on-site surveys
  • Consultations regarding monitoring and maintenance of registered nature coexistence sites (new and existing), measures, and eradication of invasive species
  • Proposals and research on the use of green spaces within company-owned land and new activities and actions related to biodiversity conservation
  • Conducting surveys and monitoring of biodiversity support activities, as well as contracting for management and maintenance activities

Environmental assessment

Projects that may have an impact on the environment are required to conduct an environmental assessment (environmental impact evaluation) based on the Environmental Impact Assessment Act or the local government's environmental impact assessment ordinance, and a living environment impact survey based on the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act, depending on the content and scale of the project.

Environmental assessment is a system in which the impact of a project on the environment is investigated in advance, predicted, and evaluated based on the characteristics of the project and the region, the results are published, and opinions are solicited from residents, local governments, etc., in order to create better business plans from the perspective of environmental conservation.

We support the realization of your project by conducting all of the following procedures, from planning the survey and investigating the current situation to preparing environmental impact assessments and other documents.

  • Target projects: Area development, roads, railways, waste treatment facilities, power generation facilities, etc.
  • Survey items: Predictions and evaluations of air quality, noise and vibration, water quality, odors, animals and plants, etc.
  • Procedural matters: Participation and support in discussions with the government, public information sessions, reviews, etc.

Soil survey/Contamination countermeasures work

We provide total solutions for soil and groundwater contamination, from investigation to purification, measures and management.

Soil survey/Contamination countermeasures work

Soil survey

  • 1 Designated investigation organization under the Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act

Designation number: 2003-8-3029 Designation update date: April 1, 2020

  • 2 Opportunities for investigation and notification under the Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act

In order to grasp the status of soil contamination, it is stipulated that surveys be conducted at certain opportunities on land that may be contaminated.

    • When a facility that uses hazardous substances is abolished (Article 3 of the Law)
    • When a change in the characteristics of land of a certain size or larger is notified, the prefectural governor or other relevant person determines that there is a risk of soil contamination (Article 4 of the Law)
    • When the prefectural governor or other relevant person determines that soil contamination is likely to cause health damage (Article 5 of the Law)
    • If soil contamination is found during independent investigations, an application can be made to the prefectural governor to designate the area (Article 14 of the Law).
    • Other investigation opportunities based on local government ordinances, etc.
  • 3 Geographical and Historical Research

By collecting and organizing materials, conducting interviews and on-site surveys, we confirm the history of the use of specific hazardous substances in the surveyed area, the land use status, etc., and determine the risk of soil contamination.
The revised Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act places great importance on historical land surveys, making their implementation mandatory.
In addition, depending on the local government, land history surveys and notification may be required when making land changes of a certain scale or larger.

  • 4 Soil gas survey

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are analyzed by collecting soil gas approximately 1m above the ground surface.
Due to their volatility, volatile organic compounds remain in the soil as gases, and by analyzing their concentration, areas where they may have seeped in (areas with a high possibility of contamination) can be identified.
    Inspection method: PID gas chromatograph

Soil Gas Survey

  • 5 Surface soil survey

For heavy metals, pesticides, etc., soil samples are collected up to 50 cm from the location of any risk of contamination on the ground surface and then analyzed.
Heavy metals, pesticides, etc. are relatively unlikely to penetrate or disperse deep underground, and tend to remain near the source of contamination. The presence or absence of soil contamination can be assessed by collecting and analyzing soil that contains these substances.
Testing methods: Headspace GC/MS, ICP optical emission spectrometry, ICP mass spectrometry, etc.

Surface soil survey
  • 6 Depth soil survey/Groundwater survey

After contamination is confirmed by soil gas surveys and surface soil surveys, a survey is conducted in the depth direction to identify the presence or absence of contaminants and their depth distribution, etc. If groundwater contamination is confirmed, the groundwater is sampled and analyzed.
Testing methods: Headspace GC/MS, ICP optical emission spectrometry, ICP mass spectrometry, etc.

Cleanup measures/Management measures

  • 1 Bioremediation

Purification is carried out by adding chemicals that activate microorganisms that can break down pollutants, increasing their decomposition activity.
The main chemicals used are upcycled by-products from the food manufacturing process, making them an environmentally friendly and sustainable anti-pollution measure.
Compared to other methods, purification can be achieved at a lower cost, and it can be carried out even in small areas or in operating factories.
Based on the information and analysis obtained from laboratory tests and test construction, we comprehensively determine the optimal injection method, amount of chemical to be injected, injection frequency, etc. We provide total support from construction plan proposal to construction management, effect monitoring, and completion of countermeasures to achieve maximum effect at minimum cost.

Bioremediation
  • 2 Pumping and treatment

Contaminated groundwater is pumped up and treated above ground before being released or returned underground.
We propose equipment and systems that are appropriate for the discharge destination standards and site. These equipment and systems are suitable for reducing high-concentration groundwater contamination and preventing the spread of contamination outside the site. In addition, after the pumping and treatment equipment is installed, the groundwater quality and water level can be monitored.

Pumping treatment
  • 3 Excavation and removal

The contaminated soil is excavated and removed, and the area is backfilled with clean soil. This method is applicable to most hazardous substances, and compared to other methods, it can shorten the construction period on site. The excavated contaminated soil is disposed of at a contaminated soil treatment facility certified by the Ministry of the Environment.

Excavation and removal
  • 4 Insolubilization (in-situ injection mixing method)

Chemicals are mixed into the contaminated soil to make the heavy metals insoluble, preventing harmful substances from leaching into the groundwater.
By selecting the right chemicals, various types of contamination can be dealt with, and the cost is lower than excavation removal.

Insolubilization (in-situ injection mixing method)
  • 5 Soil gas suction

Volatile organic compounds that have evaporated underground and become gaseous are collected by suction and adsorbed onto activated carbon for processing.
This is effective in reducing the concentration of pollutants at the source of contamination and in recovering pollutants.

Soil gas suction
  • 6 Chemical decomposition

Volatile organic compounds and other substances are decomposed using the oxidizing power of chemicals (such as hydrogen peroxide).

Chemical Decomposition

Resident briefings/Government response (risk communication)

Risk communication is a means by which all stakeholders, including local residents, businesses, and government officials, share information about risks, communicate with each other, and smoothly proceed with soil contamination countermeasures.
In particular, it is difficult to gain the understanding of local residents by simply providing them with information one-way, so two-way communication is important.
In addition, the government will be required to submit investigation reports and countermeasures plans, etc.
Our experienced staff will cooperate with you in dealing with these issues in good faith.

Work environment measurement

We conduct measurements and evaluations related to occupational safety, such as work environment measurements, welding fume measurements, personal exposure measurements, mask fit tests, and work environment management expert support services.

Work environment measurement

In workplaces where hazardous substances such as organic solvents, lead, specific chemicals, and dust are handled, it is necessary to prevent health problems from occurring.
Based on the Industrial Safety and Health Act and other laws, we provide consulting services for measuring, evaluating, and improving the working environment, as well as measuring the working environment and automatically monitoring dust levels to prevent exposure to dioxins during incinerator operation, inspection, and demolition work, and for the demolition of buildings containing asbestos.

Welding fume measurement

It has become clear that "welding fumes" generated during work such as metal arc welding may cause health hazards to workers, including neurological disorders. In response to this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has revised the Enforcement Order of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Regulations for Prevention of Harm from Specified Chemical Substances (Specific Chemical Substances Regulations), and has issued new public notices.
From April 1, 2021 (with some transitional measures), employers who continue to perform work such as metal arc welding in indoor workplaces will be required to measure welding fume concentrations as one of the measures to prevent health hazards.
Our company provides one-stop service from on-site inspections to measurements and analysis, with qualified work environment measurement specialists.
*Requests for quotes and consultations regarding measurements are accepted via the "Inquiries" section on the website.

Personal exposure measurement

Employers are required to take measures to minimize the level of exposure to chemicals among employees. Individual exposure measurements are required as part of risk assessments to understand the amount of exposure to hazardous substances in order to prevent health damage to employees.

Mask fit test

From April 1, 2023, in order to prevent health problems caused by "welding fumes" generated during work such as metal arc welding, workers who work continuously in indoor workplaces will be required to undergo a fit test once a year to check whether they are wearing protective equipment properly.
In addition, from April 1, 2024, if the results of work environment measurements are classified as Class 3, if the employer's implementation of improvement measures is not effective and the workplace is again classified as Class 3, or if a workplace is deemed to be Class 3 again after hearing the opinions of work environment management experts, it will be mandatory to conduct a fit test once a year to check whether the respiratory protective equipment is being worn properly.
We carry out testing using fit testing equipment.

Mask fit test

Work environment management expert support services

Under the revised Industrial Safety and Health Act, from April 1, 2024, improvement measures for workplaces classified as Class 3 will be strengthened.
If a regular work environment measurement is conducted and the workplace is judged to be in the third management category, and then improvement measures are implemented and the result of further measurement is still judged to be in the third management category, the opinion of a work environment management expert is required. The same applies to workplaces that are left unattended without implementing improvement measures or remeasurements.
We provide support from our work environment management experts to help you comply with these legal changes.
